Learn how to automate content distribution to build brand mentions across social platforms.
What is Content Distribution?
Distributing, or marketing your content is about consistently sharing your work across social media platforms to ensure that your brand is present and that visitors to various platforms have the opportunity to learn about your brand.
Does This Mean I Have to Blog all the Time?
No.
In fact, this is one of the biggest mistakes I see photographers making.
Here’s what I see happening with the vast majority of photographers:
- Photographer publishes blog
- Photographer shares blog across all channels
- Blog is never shared again, or updated ever
- Photographer keeps churning out almost identical blogs and grows to hate blogging
- Photographer ends up with a panda penalty due to having a high volume of thin content.
Here’s what to do instead:
- Create a content plan for your whole website based on the research of search intent and search volume. (Refer to the blogging course to learn more about creating a content plan)
- Have a nice manageable amount of relevant blog content, ideally somewhere between 50-150 posts, this will make it easier to have a well structured and easily crawled website, with clear hierarchy.
- These posts should be a mix of the 3 C’s: Cornerstone, Calendar, and Conversational. (A cornerstone article can be a page instead of a post)
- The content should be created with F.U.B.I. in mind. (Funny/Useful/Beautiful/Inspiring).
- This content – ALL OF IT! – Should be shared across all social media platforms on a consistent basis. Depending on your volume of content and your target for bookings, you may want to share the whole lot at least once every quarter, or more frequently e.g. once per month.
